January 2000

It has been our wedding trip against the flow.
Infact we got married in February.
If it is not enough :-)

From Trinidad to Camagüey

We got on the train, after have waited for hours at the train station, because the announcement was "Compañero no hay gasolina por el treno".
In Ciego de Avila the train is definetly dead, and after we have spent five houres journey to get there. We got off, and we were about 30 tourists. An organized group and as indipendent travellers two Israeli people and us. Because of the same necessity we made group apart with the two Israelis, to divide the expences for a taxi and to find someone to get us to our final destination. After we have spoken with several people, that transformed themselves into taxi-drivers for the occasion, at the end we met a man with big moustache, massive muscles under the name of Felix.
During the travel, on board of an old '50 american style car, the cover-wheel is lost some where in the sugar-cane fields. He found the wheel cover, and then we stopped in the middle of nowhere in Cuba and started smoking a Montecristo, drinking a ruhm, and talking. One of the arguments is the animals. The two Israelians has got a dog, we got two cats, and Felix tell us that at his house he has got 4..... LIONS! Obviously we all four start to laugh, and Felix makes the challange.
Well then, you can believe it or not, Felix brought us to his house, we met his wife and sons, and then he brought us again by car to a fenced garden where was installed a cage and where inside there were three lionesses and a lion.
The four felines hearing the voice of Felix started to agitate by joy. Felix entered into the cage without fear and after greeting them, they started to play together, and at the very end Felix put his arm and then his head inside the widely open mouth of the two lionesses.
