Palmyra

The legend tells that the ancient caravan town of Tadmor was established by King Solomon and its name appears in the Bible too.
The history instead tells that the town became imprtant follwing to the expansion done by emperor Adrian in the year 129 A.C. The ancient aramaic name of Tadmor disappeared and it becames for ever famous as Palmyra.
Also today, as in the past, Palmyra is an important joint in the middle of Syrian desert, and infact the main road that arrives from nowhere and goes towards nowhere pass here, despite the oasis and the archeological site are in the Unesco protection list since 1980, in the middle of the ancient ruins, and often heppens to see the dust impacted among the remaining monuments to fall down.
The archeological site is in total decline apart few skeleton of monuments that still stand, but it is easy to percieve and imagine the prosperity of the past, thanks also to rebelleious Queen Zenobia.
